I’m not
experienced in teaching children actually. The First time I taught children was
when I joined a kind of English course near my boarding house. I learnt many
things in terms of teaching methods and teaching activities from my friend. She
is a genius in teaching whether she realized it or not. Here, I felt that
teaching children could be very interesting. Sure, it was very subjective but
truly when I saw my little children vigorously attended my class it felt like
everything and it could make my day just fine.
Yeah, not
all students were nice at least nice in my expectation. They were unique in
their on way. Some were quiet and some were just very talkative. On the other words, some were very cooperative in the class and some were a bit disruptive.
It was normal cases and I thought that it happened in almost all classes.
Sometimes, I got stuck with the disruptive students in my class. Frankly, it
was frustrating for me. Then, I realized that they were just a child. From that
case, I learnt how to be interactive. I learnt to listen before I asked them to
listen to me. There had to be taking turn. The students had their own time to
speak as well as I did.
Not only I
learnt about teaching method and how to manage my class, but I also learnt
something very precious from my little students. i remember asking them about their dream since i was going to teach a material related to occupation. therefore, as a warming up, i stimulated my students by asking kind of occupations and also what they were going to be.
It was surprising. They all had dream when I
asked them what their dream was. They answered my questions convincingly, without a doubt.
“I want to
be a doctor sir”
“I want to be a soldier”
“I want to
be a carrier woman”
It was
great. They all had their big dream. They were not afraid of something going on
tomorrow. All they did was enjoying their present moment.
One more
thing, they had at least a reason why they dreamt to be something. They dreamt
not for nothing.
